The history of Fonderia Quaglia & Colombo has always been closely linked to its territory; the founders, a group of young people who left the historic mechanical company Franco Tosi from Legnano, managed to transform a small craft business into an industry thanks to their meeting with Luigi Colombo, a visionary entrepreneur who decided to invest in their ideas by building the first industrial warehouse of the foundry in 1949.
The company has always seen a constant growth in its production capacity, but the real turning point came in 1964 when Giuseppe, a young engineer and the son of Luigi, joined the company after a period of training at the Monfort foundry in Mönchengladbach.
Engineer Colombo immediately focused on constant technological and production improvements, introducing a series of key innovations for the company's growth: the production of grey cast iron was joined by the production of ductile iron, cupola furnaces were replaced by electric furnaces, No Bake moulding was introduced, and green sand moulding was automated.
In the 1990s, Giuseppe's sons, Luigi and Paolo, joined the company, pushing it towards the automation of all production processes.
